Consumers are increasingly concerned about their personal privacy. At Capital Bank, we are obligated to honor your banking relationship with great care, beginning with the information you have chosen to share with us. We believe that your privacy should not be compromised. At the same time, we want to offer you the array of financial products and services you need to accomplish your financial goals. At Capital Bank, we believe the confidentiality and protection of customer information is one of our fundamental responsibilities. While information is critical to providing quality service, we recognize that one of our most important assets is our customers’ trust. We will maintain standards to ensure that your information is private and secure at all times, and we will explain the principles of financial privacy to our customers on a regular basis.

Information That We Collect

  • We collect nonpublic personal information about our customers from the following sources:
    • Information we receive from you on applications, emails, or other forms.
    • Information about you transactions with us, our affiliates, or others.
    • Information we receive from a consumer reporting agency.
    • Information that is generated when you contact us electronically.

     

  • Our Internet financial service provider, Fiserv, also collects certain information about our customers simply to help us provide banking and other financial services to you online. They may also collect certain information for security and statistical purposes. The information collected may include:

  • The Internet protocol (IP) address from which you access our web site.
  • The date and time you access our site.
  • Web Browser used
  • Operating system used
  • Logon user name and Capital Bank Online Banking activity.

Cookies

The “cookies” that are used for our web site are for navigational purposes only. When you log on to our Internet banking system, it places a cookie on your hard drive with your login information. This cookie allows the Internet banking system to process multiple transactions during your session without requiring you to reenter your login ID for each individual transaction. The next time you use your browser, the cookie is deleted from your hard drive. The information contained in these cookies is encrypted and only our Internet banking system can read the information.

 

Information That We Disclose

We do not disclose any nonpublic personal information about our customers or former customers to anyone, except as permitted by law. We are permitted by law to disclose the following information to companies that perform marketing services on our behalf or to other financial institutions which we have joint marketing arrangements:

  • Information we receive from you on applications or other forms, such as your name and address.

We will require any company or financial institution performing marketing services on our behalf to sign a contract to maintain the confidentiality of our customer information to the same extent that we must do.

Safeguarding Customer Information

We restrict access to nonpublic information about you to those employees who need to know that information to provide products or services to you. We maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards that comply with federal standards to guard your nonpublic personal information.
